One of the major problems with progressives (and all virtue signalers) is that they are only tolerant in theory; never in practice. This man suffers from a disability and he can't turn it on and off. When confronted with unchecked, unfiltered reality these 'hate has no home here' people are as vicious as rabid pitbulls.
Indeed. This isn't new, just restructuring itself - I call it the mask of self righteousness - that which feels and looks good but isn't.
Margaret Thatcher - "Do you know that one of the great problems of our age is that we are governed by people who care more about feelings than they do about thoughts and ideas."
You’re absolutely right, it’s all so boring and pathetic isn’t it?
Jamie Foxx is happy to use the same word more than once in ‘Django Unchained’ (which, of course, is fine because he is handsomely paid for doing so), but now acts all upset when someone white says it - which rather gives the game away doesn’t it?
Yes it damages credibility when people do this. That said, I do sense real fatigue. People are much more dismissive of these witch hunts than they were a few years ago.
It's because we've all become bored as a result of comfortable opulance. We have to manufacture these battles just to have something to make us "feel like" we're achieving something.
If you clamp down on a natural behaviour in one area, it has a tendency to "pop up" and express itself somewhere else.
Especially when it comes to spirited young white males.
Many people with Tourette's Syndrome also suffer from ADHD. Furthermore, in some cases, the medications prescribed for ADHD can cause or worsen Tourette's Syndrome.
Both Tourette's and ADHD occur more often in boys than girls.
IMO, trying to quash the natural tendency of some of the best of our young men to call bullshit on racism has led to exactly what happened at the BAFTA Awards.
Young boys and men are put on behaviour modifying drugs for "ADHD," then they develop a propensity for uncontrolled outbursts, which gets labelled "Tourette's."
Medicalize every problem instead of getting to root causes. That's modernity for you.
Yes, you have a point. Although the hand wringing was very predictable. The media class fell over themselves to manage this catastrophe. People saying words out loud.
Had me fooled for a minute! I thought I was about to read an engaging article however, you kept calling Tourette's "mental illness" when it isn't. I still tried to read it, but it was just, well, blah...blah...blabbing! What Davidson did was not involuntary, it was selective and deliberate, targeting black people and hurling racial slurs at them. That's called RACISM!!! But you should understand what you're talking about before you write. Otherwise, it can make you appear ignorant. Just so you know, Tourette syndrome (TS) is classified as a neurological and neurodevelopmental disorder, not a mental illness. It is characterized by involuntary, repetitive movements and sounds called tics which are motor based. Davidson's harm to black people was deliberate!
You are mistaken. Those suffering from Tourette’s cannot easily control outbursts. To accuse someone with this affliction of intentional harm to others is absurd. The point of the piece is the lack of grace shown by some for the difficulties of others, of which you seem to be an example.
In the real world what you say is true. However, at the BAFTA's Davidson was mic'd up and seated close to the stage so that his selective tics were voluntarily hurled at Black people. He did not call White people that. This is called racism. He hurled his dirty insults at 4 esteemed guests who happened to be Black. They were targeted and he exploited his disability to promote a movie. Davidson does not deserve grace here. The SNL piece described him to a tee! He cannot use his disability as an excuse to harm people.
It's because of people like you that I don't care at all if he had done it on purpose. You're the ones who believe everything is a disability, so believe how the guy identifies and leave him the fuck alone, you joysucking spinster harpy.

Yes I agree. It betrays their real motives. It is all for effect. Real compassion would recognise his disability and the effect it has.
But they carry around a hierarchy of grievances. Racism ranks higher than disability. It scores more points in their world.

Yes, it is all an act. We live in a narcissistic age. Pretence all the way.
I like to think of it as The Matrix.
Minus all the cool moves or bullet time.
Yeah, pretty much sure I can't do that. 🙄
Well said, sir.
Pack up the gollywogs and send them all home. End of problem.
Alas it is often the natives who embrace anti-racism and related hobbies.
A brilliant review of this stupid episode. As you so rightly say, “the fatigue is real”.
All too real. I think it is mainly fatigue at the forced sensitivity. We’re expected to get into meltdowns for every minor little thing.
You’re absolutely right, it’s all so boring and pathetic isn’t it?

Yes agreed. And I include myself in that. If someone decides to call me ‘a racist’ I just don’t care anymore.
You are not alone. The race card is exhausting people.
We must all club together.
It's because we've all become bored as a result of comfortable opulance. We have to manufacture these battles just to have something to make us "feel like" we're achieving something.
There is something in that. No one agonizes over their pronouns after a week of no food, for example. They are substitutes for real problems.
That said, they are exhausting.
Trust me, those of us who do hard things are quite exhausted by this brand of crybully and their intellectual lethargy.
I think most are. It is definitely running out of steam.

Utterly pathetic.
I like this
It is all just so exhausting that it's unsustainable.
Remember, if something is not sustainable it will stop. We are all exhausted with the condemnations.

No one was harmed. They were words used by a man with a condition that can cause involuntary outbursts. This is not complicated.
Even if it was, what’s it to you beyond pretending to care?
You are an undelightful bitch.

Undelightful bitch. I may have to steal that 🤓
It just came to me suddenly, you may steal it. *bows*
You are most gracious.
I do try hard not to become an undelightful bitch. 😉
Ha. Never thought of that.
