The unprovoked, cowardly murder of Iryna Zarutska

She survived war-torn Ukraine only to die in North Carolina.

In Charlotte, North Carolina on 22 August 2025 a young Ukrainian immigrant, Iryna Zarutska, was attacked and killed by an allegedly mentally ill thug named Decarlos Brown while on a train.

A video of the incident was eventually released and it shows Zarutska stabbed in the neck then bleeding to death, the fear and confusion evident on her face after the unprovoked assault.

It makes for difficult viewing, her bewildered look at being unexpectedly attacked giving way to unconsciousness then death, right there on a well-lit modern train.

The other passengers in the carriage did not go to her assistance as her life slipped away. They turned their heads even as her body slumped onto the blood-soaked floor. Others took time to film her final moments.

A disinterested media

The story was ignored by the media for weeks. We know the reason. Black-on-white crime does not fit the approved narrative, so it is suppressed.

The video eventually broke through into public consciousness. The footage unambiguously showed a small, unarmed young woman minding her own business, murdered by an obviously more powerful man who slashed her neck with a knife.

The attack was unprovoked. He stood behind her so she had no means to defend herself. He is heard boasting on the video that he “got that white bitch.”

When the traditional media outlets couldn’t ignore it any longer without arousing suspicion among normals they spun the story to maintain the approved narrative as best they could.

Given the clarity of the video footage the assailant couldn’t be sanitized as a “hooded youth” or “North Carolina man.” Therefore, much of the coverage focused on the presumed effect on conservatives, not the facts of the case. Extremists, we were told, sought to exploit this event to stoke racial tensions.

There was minimal discussion of the facts. A deranged man murdered a petite woman in cold blood. Brown’s own comments, clear from the audio track, strongly implied a racial component to his actions whatever his presumed mental state. This too was omitted from accounts.

This reticence to examine the behaviour of the attacker and to avoid all mention of race is in sharp contrast to the reporting of white-on-black crime.

The George Floyd incident wasn’t even a crime, but an arrest gone wrong. The media reporting from the start was outrageously biased against the white police officer, Derek Chauvin. It painted a picture of racially motivated police brutality clearly at odds with the facts.

The coverage wasn’t even coherent, and nor was any evidence offered for the extreme views promoted. None was needed because the narrative has been hammered into Americans for decades. Only whites are racist and their racism is everywhere.

It was all there on video, white knee on black neck, understood as symbolic of the plight of blacks in America. Yet another minority held down by the white man.

White-on-black incidents like the George Floyd arrest are gleefully reported. Black-on-white incidents are ignored or, if this proves impossible, distorted to neutralize any racial component, all in the name of an ethnic harmony that is proving elusive as America’s experiment in civic nationalism unfolds.

The traditional media refuses to report reality and has been behaving like this for years. But people are noticing.

Not this time

There has been widespread concern over the media’s coverage of Iryna Zarutska’s murder. First the delay in reporting, then only doing so under duress. Their claims to unbiased reportage of important events lose credibility every time this happens.

More are noticing the reticence in the media to show blacks as anything other than victims even when the crimes are particularly brutal. Naturally this leads to questions. Aren’t they supposed to report the facts?

Many in the dissident space complain normals are incurious about events and willingly accept the mainstream view. But this comes at a price as it is based on trust. They trust the media outlets, however naive that may be. When they find out they are being manipulated that trust is withdrawn, a disaster for establishment narrative spinners since their propaganda rarely survives scrutiny.

Antics like these have also triggered a rather more blunt assessment of black-on-white crime and black criminality generally. Some conservative-leaning media outlets are beginning to discuss crime statistics openly, a novelty in recent times. How long before they interview Jared Taylor or Greg Hood and blow the lid off the entire racial-grievance industrial complex?

This is the Streisand effect in action, where clumsy attempts to cover up some phenomenon lead to it being promoted to a much wider audience, their attention piqued when told there is nothing to see here.

The Overton window is shifting. Narratives are being challenged. The establishment media’s obsession with hammering white America as uniquely racist is quietly being rejected.

This matters because manufactured narratives underpin many aspects of the modern managerial state, not the least of which are the policies that rely on belief in the existence of systemic racism; immigration, diversity, job quotas, education and the justice system are all affected. Jobs and pensions are on the line.

A lot rests on the public not daring to question what they are told.

That is no longer working as it once did.

The world is watching

The senseless murder of a harmless young woman represents a deeper reality Western populations are being forced to confront.

Progressive policies around immigration, discrimination, group identity, equality and law enforcement do not work. They are based on flimsy reasoning and not direct observation of reality.

This is a phenomenon witnessed in many countries and is not limited to group identity or criminal justice issues. It includes male-female relations, climate initiatives, energy policy, fiscal manipulation, education, and how we treat families. It even affects the armed forces, law enforcement and self defence.

Modern, progressive goals based on fantasy are wrecking many aspects of society, so society is breaking down.

Many of these ideas are little more than the private obsessions of the intelligentsia, which includes many in the media, hence the reason no open debate is tolerated.

The traditional media outlets, as the promoters of ideas originating from intellectuals, are wedded to the resulting social engineering schemes that often do not function in the real world, so their job has evolved to hide the real world, to tell us the dysfunction and failure we see with our lying eyes is false.

They can do this because they are typically insulated from the immediate effects of the policies they sell. Instead the cost is borne by ordinary people like Iryna Zarutska who deserved better than to be a victim of social engineering novelties based on sentimental ideas about melting pots and the rehabilitation of criminals.

But it is the traditional media’s inappropriate support of utopian schemes, and their determination to distort what people see, that is arousing suspicion. More are now aware they rarely question crime statistics, climate initiatives, radical feminism, or central bank shenanigans, not to mention dystopian goals like digital IDs or new digital currencies.

Despite all this the promoters of these ideas are losing ground. Reality is continually asserting itself to hamper their plans. And what reality looks like is rather less glamorous than the anti-racist, egalitarian, nobody-goes-hungry, rainbow unicorn paradise we were promised.

What it looked like for a young woman escaping a warzone to make a better life for herself was her last moments spent in confused terror, a lonely sad death surrounded by strangers who looked away as she passed from this life, unwilling to help.

No one in civilized countries should have to live like this. We appoint officials to prevent this from happening. They are failing because they have rejected common sense observations about the recidivism of repeat violent offenders like Decarlos Brown. People die because they refuse to consider established methods to contain antisocial criminals we have understood since the Victorian era.

The media’s collusion in this circus is now becoming obvious and they are facing scrutiny like never before.

The peddlers of dangerous ideas, and especially their promoters in the media, have a lot to answer for. And it is beginning to look like they will answer for it sooner rather than later as more wake up to the manipulations they are subjected to.

Iryna Zarutska lived a short life and she deserved more than a brutal early death. She deserved safety. She deserved another sixty years at least. She had a reasonable expectation she could avoid violent, unstable thugs who should have been behind bars for everyone’s safety.

But her death, and the blatant attempts of the media to downplay it, may be the catalyst for many to finally crawl their way out of the propaganda swamp and see the light.

As more and more do this, and become aware of how many lies are promoted by the establishment media to further agendas not in our interest, Iryna Zarutska’s horrible final moments may serve some positive purpose as those indirectly responsible for her premature death are held to account by a disillusioned populace.
