I recently reached 1000 subscribers. When it happens, Substack emails you little pictures so you can gloat.
I decided some time ago when I got to 1000 I would activate paid subscriptions.
Substack has a bias in favour of payments being activated since this is how they make their money. I think they promote you more on their app and other channels, so that may help.
This is not a begging letter asking you to take out a paid subscription, just a notice it is happening.
Should you pay? That is up to you; I would be grateful to anyone who does.
However, almost all the content will continue to be free for everyone. So it is really just for those who want to pay me.
If you are struggling, then obviously you should not take out a paid subscription. I know what poor feels like, so save your shekels for necessities.
I may occasionally post something only for paid subscribers. But my intention is for it to remain free.
Our glorious future together
Future content will be similar to now. Articles about things happening today, some reflective content and some short stories.
I still intend to write and publish a novel on here too in serialized form. All that is coming soon.
So that’s it. In a week or so I will activate paid subscriptions.
Pledges
If you pledged to pay me, bear it in mind. I am not sure if a pledge automatically takes your money once pledged. If so there must be some way to revoke this, but I have no idea.
If you made it this far I am grateful for any subscribers, paid or otherwise. So I appreciate you being here at all.
Long may it continue.
Congratulations! Your writing has had an important impact on me personally, and undoubtedly many others would say the same. Happy to see your Substack growing and receiving the attention it deserves!
Congratulations! I enjoy reading your posts and am considering canceling one or two of the subscriptions to other stacks I'm currently paying for. When I do, I will become a paid member of your stack. Your writing is very much worth paying for, and thank you continuing to make all or most of it free.
